Super Bowl Trivia

For most football fans, this is the most wonderful time of the year.  Despite the ice that has plagued Dallas, Texas this week, the NFL is gearing up to showcase the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Green Bay Packers competing for the highly coveted Lombardi Trophy.

Millions of viewers will tune in and watch the game, cheer for the black and yellow (I thought it was gold) or those lovable cheeseheads, or talk throughout the game and silence the room in anticipation of the exceptionally creative commercials (That means you Eagles fans...E-A-Gee, have we ever won a Super Bowl?).  I couldn't resist...Go Skins!!!

The commercials are the reason for this post.  I'm not teaching Sports and Entertainment Marketing this semester, but I can't resist posting something about the big game.  The Super Bowl offers students great learning opportunities for students who may be interested in marketing, especially S & E Marketing.  The essential question would be as follows: How can companies justify spending millions of dollars on a thirty second commercial?

For a deeper look at Super Bowl XLV, CNBC has put together a weath of information and news stories that relate to the business of the Super Bowl.  Check out the latest updates of Super Bowl XLV at the Business of the Super Bowl site
