Last week, students taking Microsoft Office I were given an extra credit opportunity.  Students accessed http://www.xtranormal.com/ to create a cartoon-like video to share research about a career topic of choice.  Below is one student's extra credit video.  Enjoy and please feel free to comment below.

This Wednesday will be our final Graduation Project planning day of the 10-11 school year.  Please bring any materials you need to work on your project with you THIS WEDNESDAY.

The Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants has put together a fantastic PowerPoint for students preparing to enter college. It provides suggestions to help manage the financial costs associated with higher education (Textbooks, Entertainment, Etc.).  Simply click the link at the top of the post to view the PowerPoint.

Scholarship Application

The United States Achievement Academy awards millions of dollars to students who wish to pursue higher education.  Students in grades 6-12 are eligible to apply if the following criterion are met:

Teachers are advised to nominate students based on any two of the following USAA Official Standards for Selection :

•  3.0 minimum in your nominating subject
• Academic Performance  
• Personal motivation  
• Cooperative classroom attitude  
• Dependability  
• Enthusiasm for education  
• Leadership qualities  
• Serious acceptance of responsibility

World Water Week

I stopped in a local eatery this past weekend and immediately my attention turned to a poster on the wall. The headline read World Water Week and a closer look revealed that UNICEF was behind the advertisement.

I remember back to my elementary days, particularly around Halloween, when my teachers passed out little cardboard boxes (They looked like little Animal Cracker boxes) and asked each student to collect change while they participated in Trick-or-Treat night. I never really knew the reason for collecting change, but I very enthusiastically tried to collect the most money in the class.

Since then, UNICEF has flown under my radar. The UNICEF Tap Project is asking restaurant patrons to donate $1 or more to their bill. This one dollar donation can amazingly PROVIDE ONE CHILD ACCESS TO SAFE, CLEAN WATER FOR 40 DAYS!!!
